FAQ - Appealing to an Appellate Court

In the fall of 2024, the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) mailed letters to parents who once had an open dependency and/or severance case.

Did you receive a letter? Visit the DCS letter page for more information.

The appellate court ruled on my case. How will I be notified about the decision?

When the Court of Appeals issues its decision resolving the appeal, the Clerk of the Court of Appeals will simultaneously advise the parties of the decision in writing via an emailed notification, which will direct the recipient to the Court of Appeals website to view the decision. If no email address is on record for a party, a physical copy of the decision will be mailed to that party. The Court of Appeals will also post decisions online. Division One decisions are posted at here. Division Two decisions are located here.
