FAQ - Fees, Waivers and Deferrals

In the fall of 2024, the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) mailed letters to parents who once had an open dependency and/or severance case.

What kinds of fees are waived or deferred?

There are a variety of fees that a person can request to have waived or deferred:

  • Filing or answer fees;
  • Constable service fees (with some restrictions);
  • Summons or subpoena issuance fees;
  • Appeal preparation filing fees;
  • Fees for obtaining one certified copy of a temporary order in a domestic relations case; and
  • Fees for obtaining one certified copy of a final order, judgment or decree in all civil proceedings.
