Accommodations for Disabilities

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires government buildings to be in compliance with wheelchair standards and to be accommodating to those that have specific needs.

Some of these needs include:

  • Designated parking spaces for those with disabilities
  • Wheelchair ramps
  • Equipment for the hearing impaired when requested
  • Restroom access for those with disabilities
  • Elevator access

Depending on the resources available, courthouses can often provide the following without advanced notice:

  • Sound amplifiers
  • ASL interpreters
  • Language translators
